Starz Network Cancels ‘Camelot’ After Only One Season   Starz Network Cancels ‘Camelot’ After Only One Season

Despite its status as the networks' highest rated new series ever, Starz's Camelot has been canceled after only one, ten-episode season! The show, which starred Jamie Campbell Bower, Joseph Fiennes, and Eva Green's apparently started out with strong numbers, but they later dropped significantly.

It is a rather expensive series with around 7m per episode, but it is still shame! It has built up a good fan base that were enjoying it very much. Luckily, all of the casting actors have pretty decent careers, so at least we're confident they'll find other projects.

During this first season, the series did build up a lot of momentum and some good following because finally there’s an adaptation of the Arthurian legend that people have fallen in love with and Starz just arbitrarily cancels it.

Deadline reported that it was NOT due to bad ratings rather, it seems it was caused by “significant production challenges,” or in other words, scheduling conflicts.  Rummer is that Starz might not have locked the cast of ‘Camelot’ in for further seasons, which means when different projects arise (like Jamie Campbell Bower’s role in ‘The Mortal Instruments’) the actors aren’t obligated to come back for subsequent seasons.

Why would they not have locked the stars of ‘Camelot’ in for future seasons?  Did the network not have much faith in the show from the get go?  ‘Camelot’ pulled a total of 1.5 million viewers – that’s not disappointing in the least!  It’s a shame to see a series get pulled because a few of the stars made other plans.

So more to the real reason behind the cancellation, It is also news that the studio has closed a deal for the “2012″ director’s sci-fi film “Singularity,” Sony announced Wednesday. The movie will be released May 17, 2013.  However, neither Emmerich’s camp or Sony have released any information about this upcoming project.

But the filmmaker and the studio go way back — all the way back to 1992, when Emmerich directed the Jean-Claude Van Damme/Dolph Lundgren sci-fi-action film “Universal Soldier” for Columbia Pictures.  Sony is also releasing Emmerich’s Shakespeare-based period thriller “Anonymous,” which is due out Oct. 28.

The film will stars Jamie Campbell Bower, Xavier Samuel, Rhys Ifans and Vanessa Redgrave.

About the show:
In the wake of King Uther’s sudden death, chaos threatens to engulf Britain. When the sorcerer Merlin has visions of a dark future, he installs the young and impetuous Arthur, Uther’s unknown son and heir, who has been raised from birth as a commoner. But Arthur’s cold and ambitious half sister Morgan will fight him to the bitter end, summoning unnatural forces to claim the crown in this epic battle for control. These are dark times indeed for the new king, with Guinevere being the only shining light in Arthur’s harsh world. Faced with profound moral decisions, and the challenge of uniting a kingdom broken by war and steeped in deception, Arthur will be tested beyond imagination. Forget everything you think you know…this is the story of Camelot that has never been told before.
