Terra Nova is a major American sci-fi drama television series that was scheduled for a two hour May Preview. This is now delayed with the realization that the programme needs much more special effects production time, Fox has cancelled the May two hour preview that had been scheduled for executive producer Steven Spielberg’s big budget television series ‘Terra Nova’

In a prepared statement Kevin Reilly the Fox Executive said, “Terra Nova is one of the most ambitious television series ever produced. The cutting-edge visual effects used to create the world of Terra Nova, which is of massive scope and scale, require more time to be realized. This aspect of the series is essential, so we are pushing back the special preview date to give the visual effects team the time needed for their ground-breaking work.”

“The world of Terra Nova is visually stunning on multiple levels, and effects play an enormous part,” said executive producer René Echevarria. “Premiering in the fall will give us the proper time to create a world never before seen on television.”

The Story is that The show begins in the year 2149, a time when all life on planet Earth is threatened with extinction. In an effort to save the human race, scientists develop a portal allowing travel 85 million years back in time to prehistoric Earth. The Shannon family (father Jim, his wife Elisabeth, and their three children Josh, Maddy and Zoe) join the tenth pilgrimage of settlers to Terra Nova, the first human colony on the other side of the temporal doorway. However, they are unaware that the colony is in the middle of a group of carnivorous dinosaurs.

Alex Graves has signed on to direct the pilot. Brannon Braga will serve as showrunner. The series is to be filmed in south-east Queensland, Australia,  The series will have a budget of approximately $4 million an episode.Fox Entertainment president Kevin Reilly stated, "This thing is going to be huge. It's going to take an enormous production commitment."

"Terra Nova is indeed one of the most ambitious television series ever produced," Reilly stated in a press release. "The cutting-edge visual effects used to create the world of Terra Nova, which is of massive scope and scale, require more time to be realized. This aspect of the series is essential, so we are pushing back the special early preview date to give the visual effects team the time needed for their ground-breaking work." Star Trek series never had a budget bigger than $1 million per episode.
