The series begins on the day where a group of courageous pioneers face a unique opportunity: the chance to build a new and better future on another planet. Outcasts is an epic new eight-part drama series created by Ben Richards for BBC One. The plot starts when the last known transporter from Earth arrives, prompting great excitement on the new planet – Questions are: who is on board? Good friends and loved ones? Are there essential supplies and news from Earth? And more questions to be answered through the series...

"Outcasts is written as an on-edge and fast-paced series about collaboration, conflict, romanticism and supremacy, sexual rivalry and love. Most of all it is about our life's big imperatives – cheating death, seeking suitable mates and surviving as a species"

There will be more questions on the way like will the new people import the old problems of Earth with them? Will they make the same blunders that destroyed Earth? Will the coming of a new, leader, rock the fragile and precarious equilibrium of the clean, cohesive and courageous new world? And, most importantly of all, how will they struggle to create a better world?

"I don't think the human race will survive the next thousand years, unless we spread into space. There are too many accidents that can befall life on a single planet. But I'm an optimist. We will reach out to the stars."
–  BBC Quote: Stephen Hawking
