Google Taking Street View To The Depths Of The Amazon - this gave me an idea that it is probably only natural to predict that at some point in the future we are going to see this kind of devices roaming the surface of Mars and Jupiter and near planets. However, the main question come to mind is ‘when will it happen’?

Given the rate at which they have canvassed the world’s streets and alleyways, that there is not much anywhere left unmapped. But while their teams have successfully traced the surfaces of most large cities and a number of other interesting areas, IMO it will not be a surprise that the remote reaches of the Amazon that have not yet been put under the lens is next on Google list. It has taken Google only four years to run out of cities to do and now has started the rivers around the world. So how long more will it take for them to reach surface of nearest planet.

Here is a list of places they are planning to photograph.
Now with possibilities of finding liquid water on the surface of Mars in some shape or form such public exploration would be very popular - We know that normally water on Mars would either freeze or evaporate almost immediately. The atmosphere too has the same fate. Thus, one would not expect to find features that look like those carved by rivers and floods on Earth. But, surprisingly, these can be found almost everywhere on the planet. How and when were they formed? What would we find if lots of people with keen eyes study every pixel captured buy these cameras?

I give it about 15 years till we see Google funded or public funded street map type vehicles on the surface of Mars. What do you think?
