This site is built with the founding idea that Science Fiction of yesterday becomes the technology of today. We have another two example now with ReWalk both develops and markets walk restoration devices for people with lower limb disabilities, Including paralysis. And another another amazing tool for peaple with hearing loss with "The CapTel 800i" that provides real-time, word-for-word captions of what is said over the phone on a bright screen built into the phone.

Today also we learned that Paralympian Pistorius suffers surprise 100m defeat where the South African Oscar Pistorius suffered a surprise defeat in the 100m final in NewZealand. This is another example how Medical Technology can help otherwise completely disable patients to gain so much mobility to be able to take part in such demanding sports.

Argo is enabling wheelchair users to stand, walk, and climb stairs; we restore upright mobility, quality of life, health, inclusion, and more. You can see that restoring mobility to people with severe walking impairments.  ReWalk™, the first commercially available upright walking technology, enables wheelchair users with lower-limb disabilities to stand, walk, and even climb stairs. For potentially hundreds of thousands of wheelchair users, ReWalk™ delivers a new perspective – on the world, on themselves, and on life.

Functionality:
  • All day usage
  • Mobility – walking, sitting-to-standing, standing-to-sitting,  ascending/descending stairs and slopes
  • Training – replacing other training equipment at home and at rehabilitation centre
Prerequisites:
  • Ability to use hands and shoulders (walking with crutches)
  • Healthy cardiovascular system and bone density
Currently not everyone is suitable this type of technology but those who are benefit from it greatly.  ReWalk’s purpose is to enable these individuals to once again stand, walk and climb stairs, thus giving them the freedom so many so many of us take for granted every day. Now combine this with other technologies that are constantly being developed, we would be soon be able to witness big advances in this area.

This year at CES there was another amazing tool for peaple with hearing loss.  Hamilton CapTel ® demonstrated the the CapTel 800i® captioned telephone for more than 100,000 attendees at the Consumer Electronics Show in January 2011.

Hamilton Mobile CapTel is available on multiple smartphones that use the Android™ operating system. Hamilton Mobile CapTel delivers advanced captioned telephone solutions on a variety of 3G and WiFi networks that have simultaneous voice and data capabilities. Now users can choose from a variety of mobile devices that fit their needs, allowing them to enjoy the benefits of using Hamilton Mobile CapTel.

This device allowed attendees to experience telephone captions first-hand at the show. The CapTel 800i provides real-time, word-for-word captions of what is said over the phone on a bright screen built into the phone.  As a result, the user can see what is being said, ensuring superior clarity for both parties on the call.
