Science Channel and Ridley Scott are working on eight episodes of “Prophets of Science Fiction” which will present the greats of science fiction who conceived of technologies decades before their time. From the press release:

"The series, which will premiere in the second half of 2011, will engage audiences in a dynamic, hyper-stylized way that has yet to be seen before on television. Viewers will be taken on a tour of what was – and what will be – through the eyes of the ingenious authors, illustrators, filmmakers, and scientists…”

The discovery cabler has greenlit eight episodes of the skein, which will profile outstanding sci-fi minds including Isaac Asimov, "Star Trek" creator Gene Roddenberry and "Star Wars" director George Lucas. Focus will be on what their ground-breaking work meant at the time and how it affected future breakthroughs.
