The PlayStation Meeting 2011 Sony announced specs for the Next Generation Portable. The official spec sheet Sony was just posted outlining pair of powerful quad-core processors under the hood. A quad-core ARM Cortex A9 processor inside and sharing the graphics duties alongside that will be a quad-core Power VR SGX534MP4+ GPU. This is a seriously powerful engine.

In Sony PSP2 launch event today, Sony unveiled the new device PSP2 as well as introduced “Playstation Suite”, a new cross-device game platform the company will use to bring Playstation 1 titles to Android phones and tablets (version 2.3 and 3.0). Therefore, Sony games will not exclusively be distributed to owners of the Playstation Phone that’s supposed to be officially announced next month.

Organizers have revealed the finalists for the 11th annual Game Developers Choice Awards, the leading peer-based video game industry event celebrating the industry’s top games and developers. The nominations this year were led by indie developer Playdead’s Xbox Live Arcade hit Limbo. The evocative monochrome puzzle platformer, which was winner of last year’s Independent Game Festival Awards for Visual Art and Technical Excellence, received seven nominations in all, including one for Game of the Year.

Nintendo's newly announced 3DS handheld promises 3D imagery without the need for goggles. At CES press had a chance to play with the device behind closed doors. Nintendo asked the press not to take pictures of the screen turned on because of the near-impossibility of accurately depicting moving 3D images with 2D still photography. The first preview of the 3D games is out today.
